Artificial Omniscience

To help stem my idea, i’ve shortened it to a sentence to work from;

“Omniscient machine entity that can see and hear everything, except the soul”

In turn, did a google of omniscient to see what comes up, and found this rather amazing article.

http://mindfeed.org/artificial-omniscience/

It outlines how in the future, all sources of information that ever was and ever will be, would be catalogued and feed into programs to churn out the information, which would then go into a meta-program etc. , in a pyramid to an utmost point that it would simulate Omniscience. And interestingly enough, it’s based on technology.

Now imagine an integrated collection of such aggregate analysis programs, each designed to harvest and process data for hundreds of thousands of different analytical dimensions. Statistical aggregations of perpetual data generated in real-time and integrated with every other aggregate program. For example, there will be software to integrate the weather data from thousands of stations and satellites around the globe. This data stream is then processed and made available to other aggregate systems, such as those used for flight, travel, and traffic analyses. These “meta-analytical” systems retain their granular integrity while serving a cumulative purpose by contributing to the “big picture.” Such meta systems continue up the pyramid structure — merging natural and mechanical processes, government and military events, biological and inorganic data — becoming further integrated at each level until, ultimately, the most comprehensive meta-systems converge into a single, “all knowing” source of information. With such a system, the earth’s data is accessible at any desired level, from any desired perspective, and with any level of granularity.

The article speculates that whoever has that power at the top would be a person or organization. However, what if it was an A.I.? The way it’s outlined, it’s not hard to imagine how it can be easily combined. However, my take in it is that it’s handling a lot of data and what it can’t achieve is the sensation that is feelings and emotions and how it effects us. Sure, you can have the information of how things work through psychological research, but whatever this entity becomes, it can’t experience them.

The article has given me a few ideas to work with, on how this Entity could work, with a reliance on so many things, yet possibly still needs to understand more about the universe, and to be truly self aware, break out of calculated logic.
